I missed the PW signing :(

So I'm a little bit bummed today. I had to study last night because finals are this week, so I wasn't able to hit up the P Dub signing in Atlanta. And, yes, by P Dub I am referring to the one and only Pioneer Woman. Love her!
Gosh she's purty!
Today I woke up with a headache the size of..well...my head. That's no way to start a day full of preparation for my Corporate Tax final.

It's rainy here, and that's no help at all.
If anything..it makes me want to go stick my head (without headache in tow) back under my big fluffy king size pillow!

I guess it will all be worth it when I finally graduate!
But that still doesn't change the fact that I don't have a signed Pioneer Woman cookbook in my possession now :(
If her hunky Marlboro Man was there, too.....then a big 'ol double :( :(

{i heart these}

I have been going back to these same items in my online window-shopping sessions. I am in love with tortoise shell wayfarers, Michael Kors watches, brown leather crossbody bags and this Old Navy cardigan (now on sale for $17.99). I found this scarf today, and it's 100% cotton. Yes, please.

Halloween Treats

If I had a house full of children, or even just one for that matter, I'd love to spend all day making Halloween goodies. I mean.... when is food ever this fun??

The Boxcar Children

When I was little I loved to read. My most favorite books were always from The Boxcar Children series. Anybody else share my love?
Well, I was going through my usual blogs on my Google reader when I saw a post about a Boxcar Children Cookbook! Who knew?
So I looked it up on Amazon, and you can get it for as little as $0.69! Pretty amazing. Okay, so it may not be Julia Child's caliber of cooking, but my affinity for the Henry, Benny, Violet and Jessie make it seem all the more wonderful.
This may be one for the Christmas list!

Datenight!

We've been without internet for 5 days! Our modem died, so AT&T had to send us a new one.
I got back online tonight and logged into my Google Reader. It was overflowing with new blog updates to read. That's okay...I am so excited to catch up on them!

One of the blogs had a link to The Great Date Experiment. I think this could be something fun to start with the hubby. You could make your own variations of it, but I think it's a good guideline for new/fun/spontaneous dates. Some of the dates seem a little cheesy, but date #1 sounds like something you could do every month...just change up the topics of conversation.

Just wanted to share :)
Happy Monday....almost Tuesday!

PW

If you haven't checked The Pioneer Woman lately, you should. This dish is begging me to make it.
If you've never read The Pioneer Woman, then shame on you. You're missing out!

Super Simple Supper

I think almost all of us have that default dinner that we go to when we're too tired, busy or lazy to cook a 'real meal'. Mine is shamefully easy to make. It's full of carbs, cheese and garlic. Therefore, it can get dangerous. I might never really cook again if I didn't have to. I couldn't resist sharing, though.
Super Simple Supper

It's this easy:
1. Cook pasta according to directions and drain. (You can use any kind of noodle)
2. Mix and simmer in a large pot: Hunt's 4 Cheese Sauce, Ragu Alfredo, 1/4 tsp. minced garlic, and oregano to taste.
3. Add pasta and toss to coat.

Lamp Love

My hubby gives me grief over my slight obsession with lamps. I don't know why, where or when this came about. For a couple of years now I've been buying old lamps at yard sales and antique stores in hopes of rewiring them, changing out the shade or repainting them. Lamps just do the job when it comes to creating a comfy mood. Overhead lights can be a little harsh, and lets face it, the dark can be a little scary. I never pay more than $10 each, because I'm thrifty like that. If money were no object, I'd definitely step up my game and snag one of these bad boys below...unfortunately, I'm too frugal to spend a month's worth of groceries on a single lamp!

KOL in ATL

Last Friday night was my highly anticipated trip to Atlanta to see Kings of Leon in concert. I had an absolute blast. I have been madly in love with their music for a couple years now, so FINALLY going to one of their shows was something to check off my bucket list. I found this video via good 'ole YouTube.

White Lies opened for KOL. They put on a great show of their own, so we bought their CD on our way out. We definitely jammed out to it all the way home!
Before we left ATL, we got a chance to stop by and see my most favorite little hunny bunny! She has an awesome new apartment and a new Maltipoo puppy, Winston! He's a little charmer :) I forgot my camera, so I stole this from facebook. (Hope she doesn't mind!)

Gavin is here!

I've been a bad blogger. I didn't realize I hadn't posted in so long, but things have been a little crazy around here. Fall semester is really kicking my butt. I haven't pulled my nose out of my books until now.
Last Thursday, we got a call around 9pm from Joey saying Crystal's water broke and they were headed to the hospital! Gavin Pierce arrived at 4:02 am Friday morning. We got to the hospital around noon Friday to meet him.
He was almost seven pounds and had a head FULL of black hair. He was so warm and smelled so sweet. I wanted to just gobble him up!
Hopefully I can go visit soon, so I can take lots of pictures of him!!

At Attention!

I really wish it would hurry up and get cold, so I can wear my new coat!

I wish I had found these earlier in the summer. Who knows?..Maybe I'm like the last person on earth to know about these things. I thought they were treats you could only get at Auburn football games. In fact, I had one at the game last Saturday. It was a whopping $4. Kroger had these for $1. They have strawberry lemonade, too!

Save cents on your scents

I have been in search of a new home fragrance. Spray air fresheners are too temporary. Every candle that I find either doesn't provide much of a smell or are super duper expensive. I've tried other plug in scented oils, (like the Wal-Mart brand in Fresh Cotton--ewww!) but never has one worked or smelled so good as the Air Wick Hidden Pleasures. I tried the 'Calming Magnolia and Cherry Blossom'. I never in a million years thought I'd enjoy any scent that included magnolia, but this one does not disappoint. It is not a strong or heavy perfume. It is a light, sweet and fresh smell. At around $5, I'd say it's a deal!

This mustard is a must!

Monday I stopped at a local kitchen store that is going out of business. I came across this mustard. I know you're thinking "Mustard?"....I was surrounded by Le Creuset and high-end kitchen gadgets..and I found my self buying mustard.
Honestly, even at sale prices the $149 saucier was out of my league. Well since we're being completely honest, I saw a 50% off sign and made a beeline for it. I found a wall of little gourmet cookies, cocoa mixes, marinades and this little jar of Champagne Shallot Mustard. It was only $3!
I tried it today. Y'all....it takes my turkey sandwiches to a whole new level. It's a little bit sweet and a little bit spicy. It's muy bueno! Try it yourself. You'll thank me :)

Oui Oui!

I would LOVE this cookbook, even more so with this CD.

My (current) favorite Williams-Sonoma item is this little beauty. It will definitely be on my Christmas list!

Product Review

Taking a quick second away from studying to share a little info! I know people normally do posts of their "favorite things" or reviews of products they swear by. But this time, I thought I'd keep it real and let you know about a product (I think) you should avoid.
I like trying new cleaners. I guess I'm constantly on a quest for something that you just spray and it cleans itself. (I know I know....)
For those of you who like to clean, more power to you. I usually try to find the easy way out.
I tried this new "Scrub Free" product from Arm & Hammer. I was sadly disappointed. First off, there is no foaming action. Second, the scent is far from a clean and refreshing one. Lastly, it is in no way, shape or form scrub free.
I saw a commercial for a new Kaboom product that I'm a little skeptical of, but I would still like to try it. If anybody has tested this one out, please offer up a review!

Hunny Bunny is a little Hottie!

So I was stalking perusing Alli's photos on facebook when I came across this...
Dear Hunny Bunny,
You look absolutely adorable in this picture! I love your hair, and I love YOU! Please come visit soon. It's been tooooo long.
Love,
RayBan

Our Yard Sale Adventure Trip

Better late than never. It's taken me a while to get a post started on my yard sale trip. Here goes...
Thursday we drove to
This was our ride. Yes, all 5 of us rode in one truck from Alabama to Kentucky and back. My knees became well acquainted with the dash.

Our first big stop was at a Barn Sale on top of Signal Mountain. It was literally a sale inside a barn full of horses, chickens, ducks, pigs, etc.
The next day we headed North again. Most of the sales were clustered together in large flea-market-style setups. We would drive miles between them over hills and around curves. Up and down the mountains. I think this was one of the prettiest spots. It was an old general store situated next to a stream.
We saw a slimy slithery snake in the stream beside the store. That was enough for me. I went back to the car. On the way back I encountered another scaaaary creature.
We continued our way on into Kentucky. There were tobacco fields everywhere!
There was one rolling hill after another.
My Dad had to look at every tractor from here to Kentucky.
We weren't as enthused about them.
And PawPaw wasn't too happy that his bread didn't survive the trip.
On Saturday we (Mom, Dad, Ryan, Jamey & me) headed back toward home, while the rest of the gang (Aunt Teresa, Uncle Jim & PawPaw) drove further north into Ohio.
On the way home we drove through 'Amish country' in Liberty, Kentucky. I felt a little bad about taking their pictures. I was hoping they weren't offended by it.
We only made a few more stops before making a beeline toward home. It was fun to experience it once in life. But I think I've seen enough yard sales to last me quite a while!

If I were a kid, I'd shop at PBK

I know this is totally random, but I saw these adorable items on Pottery Barn Kids and had to share.

These colorful sheets with owls make me smile.
I just wish they made them for King size beds!

I love these storage baskets with mini chalkboard labels!

This lazy susan has buckets in a rainbow of cute colors. I love it!

As if this chair couldn't get any cuter, it can be monogrammed!

What's To Come..

So last weekend, I went on a trip with my family to the World's Longest Yard Sale. Jamey took part of the week off, so we've been doing all sorts of fun stuff. So until I can find the time to post about my yard sale adventure, I'll leave you with a little eye candy!
